The Coffee Exhibit

Telling the story of coffee production in symbols.

The coffee exhibit tells the story of how coffee is produced using only symbols. The symbol were engraved into the edge of the coffee boat. The wood makes the symbols very tactile, so as people explore along the line of symbols they can make up their own story for coffee. The wooden edge also included tactile coffee beans and braille.

Coffee plants are grown : : in farms : : then the beans : : are picked : : and put into sacks : : and into lorries : : where they are taken : : to the port : : and put onto ferries : : then taken around the world : : to places in the UK : : where they are taken to factories : : where its roasted : : and packaged : : sent off to wholesalers : : then to small shops  : : and cafes : : where its made into coffee : : and people can drink it.
