Bringing Information to a Wider World

In the UK many people with learning disabilities are developing skills to enable them to live more independently, to have more fulfilling lives and achieve varying degrees of economic independence. This has resulted from past legislation and actions, for example the closure of large long-stay care institutions andthe Disability Discrimination Act.

There has also been a change in attitude towards people with learning disabilities, particularly in looking at what they can do rather than what they cannot do. Key to all this is providing information and enabling communication in accessible forms.
