Barnsley Inclusion Services support a range of educational settings. We can provide guidance and support to schools in Barnsley, regarding the use of ICT for Inclusion. We can offer schools a bespoke support solution provided though our various support service teams.

The Assistive Technology (AT) Team provide a specialised service throughout three districts of Yorkshire: Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham – working with local professionals to provide Assistive Technology to enhance the independence of people with disabilities. The team:

* Assesses clients for their Assistive Technology needs
* Provides specialist Assistive Technology equipment
* Offers advice and support around Assistive Technology
* Delivers Assistive Technology training
* Carries out research and development into Assistive Technology

: The North Yorkshire Communication Aids Partnership (NYCAP) – four centres based in Special Schools across North Yorkshire, offer assessment, advice and support across the County for professionals working with youngsters with severe communication difficulties. Teaching staff from the schools work with Speech and Language Therapists to support mainstream and special schools in assessing the needs of pupils who use or may benefit from the use of communication aids.

The ICT Inclusion Team, SENSS Wakefield LA, are a small team of Advisory teachers, technicians and curriculum support assistants working with children and young people across Wakefield Schools and early years settings. We provide assessment, advice and resources to deal with a range of special needs including learning, sensory and communication difficulties.

We provide free training to Wakefield schools but may charge for out of district courses. We offer training on WIDGIT and Boardmaker software.

We are a team of specialist teachers and support assistants who work with Sheffield mainstream schools to provide inclusion for children who are on the autistic spectrum. Visual strategies are vital for the inclusion of these children and we use Widgit software to make these.

The Inclusion Support Service York, are a team who provide assessment, advice, training and sign posting to appropriate resources including ICT; to deal with a wide range of special needs including learning, sensory and communication difficulties.

We provide free training to York schools but charge for out of district attendance/courses.

The ACE Centre North provides assessments, training, information, advice, consultancy and equipment loans to support the use of assistive technology for communication and learning for people with physical and communication disabilities across the North of England and North Wales.
