Using the materials in Writing with Symbols 2000

The worksheets and environments are installed into your WWS2000Work folder. Together with wordlists and additional graphics.

The worksheet files are installed into the Activities folder inside writing.

The environments are installed into the Activities folder inside your Wizard environments.

As well as using the materials as supplied, they can be modified or adapted for individual needs. The extra vocabulary for the wordlist and the extra graphics are provided with the pack and automatically added to WIDRESOURCES (Widgit graphic resources). This enables you to also create your own materials to meet individual needs.

Printing the PDF Files

The PDF version of this pack cannot be configured for individual use, but do not require specific symbol software.

These files can be printed directly from Acrobat Reader. You do not need any of the Widgit Products to access these files, but you will need to have Adobe Acrobat installed.

A good independent activity once the child is familiar with the story. Child reads the story and crosses out the wrong words

Extend by getting child to write in correct word using the original story

Need die, counters and cards with a,o,u for each person playing. Throw the die, move on that number of places. If you land on a snake go down. If you land on a ladder go up. Then

• say the word represented by the picture and point to the correct medial vowel card
  OR
• say the word and then say a word which rhymes with the word
