Nice Warm Socks

Communicate: In Print files to accompany a CD of songs from Wren Music

Nice Warm Socks is a collection of beautiful songs suitable for use in class music, speech and language therapy work, front rooms and car journeys alike. The songs are pitched and paced to make joining in easy and to use AAC. The CD is available through www.nicewarmsocks.org.uk

Song is a very important tool for interaction with those at an early developmental level, and these songs are ideal for including non-vocal i.e.AAC singers in musical activity.

Contents

To accompany this resource there are packs of symbol resources, which include the words of the songs, flash cards with the key words/ideas and a range of overlays for switches and communication devices. These resources are available as files to run in Communicate: In Print and use the coloured Widgit Rebus symbols. There are also files with the key BSL signs using graphics from Let’s Sign and Write.

Download the Nice Warm Socks symbol resources using Communicate: In Print

• Pick a song you want to download and click on 'Download FREE'
• Click on 'Run'
• If you get a security warning, click on 'Run'
• you will get a Widgit box telling you that the program will install the new resources for Communicate: In Print. Click on 'Next'
• The resources will then install. Click on 'Finish'
  
  
• Open the Communicate: In Print program on your computer
• Click on the File menu and then select 'Open Shared'
• Double click on 'Widgit Resources'
• Double click on 'Nice Warm Socks'
• Double click on the title of the song you want to open the resources for
• You will see a list of the available resources. Each one names the type of resource (e.g. book) or the AAC equipment it is designed for (e.g.4talk4)
• you can proceed to print the resource in the same way as printing any symbols from this program

 

Printing the PDF Files

The PDF version of this pack cannot be configured for individual use, but do not require specific software, other than Acrobat Reader.

The A5 booklets need to be printed and then cut in half to make the small books. They have been paginated so that you can print them double sided. Alternatively sort the pages into numerical order before stapling.

These files can be printed directly from Acrobat Reader. You do not need any of the Widgit Products to access these files, but you will need to have Adobe Acrobat installed.
