Describing Materials
Identify two characteristics of each material.

This activity gives the learner the opportunity to independently write about the characteristics of materials. They can choose from attributes such as hard, soft, smooth or rough, plus many more to describe the material. The cells are arranged to aid sentence construction in a logical sequence and are fully symbol and speech supported.

What happens when you heat materials?

This activity gives the learner the opportunity to independently write about the effects of heating materials. The sentences in the cells are pre constructed and fall within a right or wrong context. All of the cells are symbol and speech supported.

Magnetic Sort
List magnetic materials and then non-magnetic materials

This activity enables the learner to produce lists based whether a material is magnetic or not. The first cell writes the heading for the list and then each cell has a material and it is up to the learner to decide which materials are magnetic and which materials are not magnetic. All of the cells in this activity are symbol and speech supported.

Materials Made From
What are the items made from

This activity gives the learner the opportunity to independently write about items and what materials they are made from. The sentence structure is broken up simply into two parts to enable access to all learners. All of the cells in this activity are symbol and speech supported.

Materials Quiz
Answer the questions about different properties of materials

This activity is ideal as an assessment tool. A question in the cell is written on the page and then read back to the learner, and then they have the opportunity to choose the correct answer to the question about the materials. All of the cells are symbol and speech supported in this activity.

Natural or Manmade Sort
Sort and list the materiels into natural or manmade

This activity enables the learner to sort materials into manmad or natural catagories. Learners can click the green cell to write the heading and then choose the appropriate materials from the list in the bottom stage. All of the cells in this activity are fully symbol and speech supported.

Melting and Freezing
An activity based on whether an item can freeze or melt

This activity is for learners to independently write about whether items freeze or melt. Contained within the green cell is the heading, then in the other cells are items that will or will not fit with that heading. Each cell has one word in it, but when sent to the page includes the word in a meaningful sentence. All of the cells in this activity are symbol and speech supported.

Sequence Materials
Sequence the development of product from raw materials

This activity is to reinforce the sequence of materials from raw material to product. Once the learner has clicked on the heading and sent it to the page, they have the opportunity to send the contents of the cells in the correct order, from raw material to product. All of the cells in this activity are symbol and speech supported.

Sort Materials
Sort materials in three categories

This activity is about sorting the material into three disctinct catagories.
