Problem
Printing from Choices when the current printer
driver is not compatible
Solution
The task is to save a copy of the relevant Choices screen
as a Sprite file to your hard disc to print later. There are two ways
you can save a screen dump:
A) When no printer driver has been loaded into memory
- Do NOT load a printer driver. If you have previously loaded a printer
driver and then quit it, you must go on to the next solution.
- Open the window where you want to save the screen dump.
- Load Choices and run it. When you get to the page you want to save
press Print Screen. A dialogue box will appear with the message "You
do not have a printer driver loaded. Do you want to save the screen
to disc and print at a later stage?" Answer yes.
- This will put the choices screen to the back and give you a Save
As dialogue box. Name the sprite and drag to the window you want to
save it in. You can then carry on with Choices.
B) If you have previously loaded a printer driver.
This applies if you have previously loaded a printer driver, even if
you have then quit it. This is because the data is still loaded in memory
even though there is no icon in the icon bar.
- Load Choices, and the exercise file you want, but do not enter and
exercise.
- Load Paint onto the icon bar. Select 'Snapshot' from the menu on
the Paint icon.
- Set the timer to an amount where you can navigate to the required
display in choices. Set the dialogue to 'Grab whole screen' (You can
also choose to display the timer if you want).
- When the timer reaches 0, the whole screen will automatically be
saved. A Save As dialogue box will appear. When you enter a filename
for the screen you need to enter the whole of the path to the
directory you want to save it. Alternatively you can enter '$.[filename]'
and this will save it to the root directory of your hard disc.
