The red cross emblem is not a symbol of the medical profession, but an international symbol of neutrality and protection, and is protected under international and domestic laws. For this reason, we are adapting the Widgit Symbols that symbolise medical relevance to include a green cross instead of a red cross.

Nurses
The widgit symbols used to use colour to indicate the difference between a doctor and nurse (e.g. dentist and dental nurse, vet and veterinary nurse). These are now indicated by the 'helping hand'.
