Solution

If you have the 'demo' version of the program, there will be a link to the license activation options in the Start menu program group for SymWriter.

If you have the 'full' (CD) version of the program, you will need to start SymWriter in 'Write document' mode by clicking the 'Write document' button at the bottom-left of the program launcher. Now that you are in 'Write document' mode, click 'Help' > 'License Manager' to start the licence manager. The 'License Manager' link in the 'Help' menu is disabled in other modes to limit the chances of accidental access.

If you cannot access the program for some reason (perhaps a demo license has expired and the Start menu shortcut has been deleted), you can browse to the 'License Manager' in Windows. The default path is:
