Question
Some users not seeing all launcher buttons
Solution
This is due to a feature of SymWriter that affects students who do not have write-access to the areas where the environments are stored. It removes the lower icons in the launcher to prevent these students from entering the program in a way which would prevent them saving their work.
The feature can be circumvented by granting write permissions to the Environments folders to the affected users. Since this would mean giving students write permissions to shared areas of the computer, this may not be an acceptable solution to some.
For a future version of SymWriter, we intend to make this feature optional, so that students can still create their own environments, and save them to their own personal folders. Students will then have access to all of the normal launcher buttons.
