Problem
Not all words have a symbol.
Answer
In Symbol view Webwide symbolises well over 25 000 words. Our aim is to provide as wide a vocabulary as possible to meet the needs of users who have text difficulties. Our server records words which are not symbolised. We will use this data to develop new symbols to increase the vocabulary supported. We have a policy of constantly updating the program so that it will provide more links between symbol and word. Because this is a web-based product, we can make improvements based on user suggestions quickly and seamlessly.
We have removed the symbols for a small number of non-essential abstract
symbols, such as 'an', 'the' 'of' and because in order to enhance the
readability of the symbols. There will be a discussion document on the
Webwide portal on the question of non-information carrying symbols and
abstract symbols. We welcome your feedback.
