These Activities have been fully upgraded for version 2.6
The WWS2000 Training Pack is available as a comprehensive set of resources for schools and centres, to delivering staff training in using Writing with Symbols 2000.
The Activities from the pack are also available here as PDF files for individual use.
Most people will find these downloadable resources quite adequate for their own purposes. The full Training Pack is designed for schools and centres delivering training, and provide the files conveniently together, along with several other resources and guides.
The Activities provide a comprehensive introduction to all of the main features of the program. Each activity is designed to take between 10 and 20 minutes, although the precise time will depend on your own confidence with Windows.
Activities 1-7 cover the main aspects of using the program to create
materials for students to use.
Activities 8-12 introduce making on-screen grids for student writing.
Activities 13 and 14 are for more experienced users.
Activities 15 and 16 are for people working with switch users.

1. Introduction to Writing with Symbols 2000 312KB
This worksheet is designed for people who have not used symbol writing
software. It gives an overview of the main features of the program.
It does not go into great depth on any point, as each aspect of the
program is followed up in other activity sheets.

8. Grids for writing 166KB
Writing with Symbols 2000 lets you create on-screen grids with symbols,
pictures and words, to meet individual requirements. A set of on-screen
grids with the writing document is called a writing 'environment' because
it contains all the content and settings for that particular user or
purpose. This activity takes you through some examples of environments
included with the program

13. Modifying wordlists in the Resource

This activity assumes that you have version 2.6 of Writing with Symbols
2000, and will explain how to modify wordlists or add symbols from other
wordlists to create your own.

14. Using sound 162KB
You can attach sound (.wav) files to an entry in a wordlist. This activity
takes you through how to do this, through the Writing with Symbols 2000
program or in the Resource Manager.

15. Switch access explained 168KB
The first part of this activity will look at the switch menus and then
relate these to two of the example environments. This activity assumes
that you are familiar with switch use and how switches are connected
to a computer.
