 Problem

"Error selecting a tts engine - no sound card?"
is displayed when WWS2000 is run

 Solution 1

Go to control panel

In Windows 2000: Start > Settings > Control Panel
In Windows XP: Start > Control Panel


Select Sounds Properties

In Windows 2000: Sounds and Multimedia
In Windows XP: Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices


Select Audio tab

Change Midi Music Playback to another option in the drop down list.

 

 

 Solution 2

This can be caused by a corruption with the speech files

 You can re-install the speech from the WWS2000 CD cd

 Right click on 'Start' at the bottom left hand side of your screen

 Choose 'explore'

 Choose the folder labelled 'Redist'

 Double click on the file MSTTSL.EXE (Microsoft text to speech engine)

 

A window will open up and you will need to click on the folder which says WWS2002-6 (this will be on the left hand side)

 Follow the instructions. It shold re-install your speech engines

 Repeat by opening the folder api and double click on the file spchapi.exe
