How to make Recipe Cards |
 |
A really lovely way of illustrating activities in an easily accessible
format gives a
feeling of independence to the symbol user.
The use of digital images can clarify some aspects of the activity
as well as serving
as a record of work when the activity is completed.
Choose your words carefully so as to convey meaning in the clearest
way.
This may not necessarily be the fewest words or the fewest symbols but
ensure that
the meaning is clear.

Its always good to show a digital camera image
of the result and you do this by taking a picture and saving
it in the My Pics folder in WWS. Then click on the
Images drop down menu. Click on Link to External
graphic, find your pictures and type in the word you wish
to associate it with. |
|
|
 |
Type in the associated word and enlarge the
image to suit the page. To strip away the text press the F11
key and then the right pointing arrow on your keyboard |

To make a symbols cookery book you might like
to widen the margin on the left hand side. Go to File,
Print Margins and increase the left hand margin. This
will enable you to laminate, hole punch and clip into a file.
The file will then be totally wipe proof and much more practical. |

There are many good recipe sites on the internet
and on disk. Highlight the recipe, right mouse click
and choose the word copy, open up Writing with Symbols
and paste. The recipe should be interpreted into symbols
as you watch. Just beware of some of the interpretations and
edit carefully to make it as accessible as you can. |
