Security

Widgit Online is a web-based application for practitioners, families and symbol users. Widgit Online is for creating, storing, sharing and publishing symbol documents.

This page outlines the main security measures we have taken to protect users and their documents.

Access

Access to Widgit Online is controlled by user logins. A login consists of a username or email address and private password. Read more on e-Safety regarding passwords and creating group account users.

Data storage and service availability

Your account is protected by Amazon's highly secure facilities which are staffed 24x7 by trained security guards. The infrastructure is protected by extensive network and security monitoring systems.

Firewall

Our servers sit behind a firewall and an intrusion detection system. In addition to automated alerts, these are regularly monitored for any evidence of attempted hacking. Access to the servers is locked down and authorized strictly according to the principle of least privilege.

End-to-end encryption

Widgit Online uses HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) for all requests, meaning that all communication between your computer and our servers is encrypted. This is a standard for encryption over the web and is used by services such as online banking and shopping.

Payments

No credit card or payment details are stored on our servers. All automated payments in Widgit Online are handled exclusively by PayPal.

Access to data by Widgit personnel

A small number of Widgit staff have access to customer details in order to assist with support queries and account management.
