Talk Stars is a teacher-led program designed for children aged 3–5 that makes talking fun, engaging, and accessible for all. Delivered online, it enables every member of staff to deliver a high-quality communication and language intervention without the need for prior training or lesson preparation.
Each short, 5–10-minute lesson includes a series of interactive activities such as nursery rhymes to sing and sign along to, all designed to encourage children to communicate with confidence.
Vocabulary is explicitly taught through adult modelling, with each word brought to life using both real photos and Widgit Symbols. Children can see how their mouth and tongue move when speaking, then listen to how the word sounds, building essential speech and language skills step by step.
With progress saved automatically and lessons available for parents to repeat at home, Talk Stars helps create consistency and impact across early learning environments.
“Schools have been so excited to hear about our online language intervention, and they're even more excited when they hear we're using Widgit. Being able to use both photos and Widgit line drawings for illustrating new vocabulary, along with a video of an adult saying the word, has been very important to us.”
