SEN2gether: empowering SEND families, one connection at a time
A parent-built app and community offering clarity, connection, and support for families with additional needs
SEN2gether, a mobile app and community for families with additional needs, was born from real life; from sleepless nights and endless appointments, to the fierce love that drives parents to keep going, even when it feels impossible.

Co-founders Nisha and Kate first met when their daughters, Sofia and Ophelia, attended the same specialist nursery. Both girls were later diagnosed with autism, and Ophelia also with ADHD and ARFID. Their shared journey created an instant bond: two mums navigating similar challenges, both trying to make sense of a system that often leaves families feeling unseen and unheard.
“What started as two mums stopping for a chat at nursery quickly became a lifeline neither of us knew we needed. We realised early on that our journeys weren’t just similar, they were connected. That connection became the foundation of SEN2gether, and it continues to guide everything we do.”
It was at this specialist nursery that they were first introduced to Widgit Symbols, a turning point in their daughters’ communication journeys. The visual tools opened new ways to express needs and emotions, helping to reduce frustration and build understanding. That experience sparked a lasting appreciation for Widgit, and today, SEN2gether continue to share its benefits with other parents, hoping it can bring the same breakthroughs and confidence to many more families.
“Widgit Symbols opened a door for our girls when words felt out of reach. Seeing the difference it made in their daily communication was nothing short of transformative. It became one of the first tools we shared with other parents, because when something truly helps, you want every family facing similar challenges to feel that relief too.”
They were soon joined by Saira, a devoted auntie whose passion for inclusion and change runs deep. Together, the three women transformed their personal challenges into a shared mission: to make life easier, kinder, and more connected for families like theirs.
That mission became SEN2gether, a mobile app designed to empower and support parents and caregivers of children with additional needs and disabilities. It brings verified information, genuine connection, and emotional support into one trusted space, not through complicated systems, but through something practical, human, and filled with heart.
Unlike traditional platforms, SEN2gether was built by parents who have been there. It cuts through the chaos of fragmented resources, endless tabs, and social media noise, offering a single place where families can breathe, connect, and find clarity. Every feature, from peer-to-peer forums to wellbeing tools, has been shaped by lived experience.
Today, Widgit is woven into SEN2gether as a trusted resource for accessible communication. By bringing these visual tools directly into the app, we’re ensuring that more families can benefit from the clarity, confidence, and independence they offer. Together with Widgit, they’re committed to continuing this shared mission: creating a kinder, more inclusive world where every child, and every family, can thrive.
“Integrating Widgit into SEN2gether means families can access clear, inclusive communication tools the moment they need them. Together, we’re making the journey a little easier for every child who deserves to be understood.”
What began as three women building what didn’t exist has become a growing lifeline for families around the world. SEN2gether isn’t just an app; it’s a community, a safe space, and a reminder that none of us have to walk this journey alone.
