Not-for-profit A2ndvoice CIC joins the Symbol-Friendly family
Raising awareness and understanding of autism from different perspectives

Founded in 2018, A2ndvoice CIC – a London-based not-for-profit with a passion for supporting children and their families – joins our Symbol-Friendly network as another advocate for inclusive communication across all environments.
Outreaching to the Africa, Caribbean, Asian, and Minority Ethnic Communities (ACAME) and Dual Heritage Communities, not only does the voluntary group run workshops for families across South London and beyond, but they also focus on tackling the taboos and myths around autism – with a little help from Widgit Symbols.
“Being recognised as a Symbol-Friendly organisation, we are delighted to use Widgit and be part of this fantastic initiative, ensuring clear and direct communication pathways for those who need alternative ways to express themselves. We highly recommend it!”
– Venessa Swaby (Bobb), founder of A2ndvoice CIC
From autistic individuals to children / adults with dual conditions such as cerebral palsy, OCD, hearing impairments and other conditions, the group was formed to meet the needs of the wider community, signposting families in the right direction when seeking support for their children – from early years, to teenager, to young adult.
Workshops focus on a variety of topics, including puberty and sexuality, challenging behaviour, inappropriate sexualised behaviour, sleep issues, street safety, and even a ‘women and girls on the spectrum’ session hosted by autistic volunteers.

On a mission to inspire, empower, share information, and build a network that delivers ongoing support for such families, A2ndvoice CIC also provides pre and post-natal guidance for new mothers, a space for single parents to share similar experiences, and a support service for parents in schools who may lack understanding around their children’s needs; they also work with organisations that deal with Youth Services within the criminal justice system.
“We’re delighted to welcome A2ndvoice to our growing network of Symbol-Friendly organisations. Venessa’s passion for inclusive communication is a guiding light for families seeking support, and we’re proud that Widgit can play a part in helping individuals of all ages and abilities realise their true potential.”
– Jonathan Sullivan, Widgit Chief Growth Officer
Evolving their programme of workshops and events to also support the needs of autistic adults, A2ndvoice continues to go from strength to strength, championing the voices of individuals across all generations, backgrounds and abilities – with nothing but care and compassion for the communities they serve.
