Rebecca is a qualified teacher with over 14 years’ experience of working across the whole primary phase and an autism specialist setting.

The move from mainstream to special needs allowed her to use Widgit Software as part of her practice and sparked a passion around aiding communication for children and their families.

For this reason, Rebecca set up Ready, Steady, Communicate in order to support families a little further afield.  As an independent consultant she will be offering support as a SEND tutor, supporting with EHCP targets, as well as being available to offer tailored communication support packages to schools.

Please get in touch if you are a parent, teacher or other professional that you feel would benefit from her support.

Karen started to understand the importance of Widgit symbols as a communication tool when her son, who has severe autism, began using them. As a language teacher, she was really interested in learning how to use the software to produce resources to support her family.

She began to offer training and support to families, schools, local service providers in the community and to create a range of resources to help others. Karen states that, ‘Symbols are a great tool, not only for children with additional needs, but they can also be implemented very successfully in a mainstream setting.’
