At Rosehill, we are passionate about communication and strive to ensure that our children are part of a language rich environment. We use Widgit symbols throughout our school to support in achieving this aim. We use Widgit symbols in our learning environment around school to support our children, familiar stories are edited to include Widgit symbols and communication boards then aid storytelling, writing and comprehension. Communication boards are created for a range of subjects and topics so that all children including verbal, pre-verbal and non-verbal can access learning at a level suitable to them. Widgit symbols enable us to give our children a voice and empower them to be independent learners.
