Emergency Services Communication Board

Improving access and safety for children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

This emergency services communication board is designed to enhance comprehension during emergency interactions. By equipping emergency responders with this visual resource, the aim is to facilitate clearer communication, ultimately enhancing safety and improving outcomes for children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

The board was developed in partnership with Ysgol Maes Y Coed, Neath Port Talbot Council Children’s Services directorate, and the Children’s Rights Unit. Additional support and input were received from key stakeholders including South Wales Police, Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust, and Mid & West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
