2021 Widgit Symbol Update

The Changes: Knowledge and Communication

Ticks and Crosses

Symbols using ticks and crosses have been updated and made more visually consistent. The colour of the tick has been updated to green as this is commonly used to indicate positive/correct concepts. The symbols have also been updated into friendlier shapes that work together.

Do (action)

The old 'do' action arrow was not easily recognised so this has been removed and updated to be less abstract. The do symbol now shows the concept of striving/attempting to achieve.

Speech

The speech symbols have been updated for consistency. The bubble is now the same shape throughout and the bubble colour is now a pale blue to match breath and air elements. The speech symbols use the new mouth element which was updated for visual clarity.

Emergency

The emergency symbols have been changed from using the 'telephone' element to 'danger', as this better represents the concept.
